Sex Workers Stage Peaceful Walk Protesting Condom Shortage
A group of sex workers held a peaceful march today, raising concerns about the scarcity of condoms within the nation.
Despite reports of a widespread outbreak of super gonorrhea, sex workers are facing difficulties accessing sufficient condoms.
Members of the Bar Hostess organization, representing sex workers, highlight that this shortage has persisted for over a year.
Mercy, a sex worker, voiced her concern, saying, "The ongoing shortage has significantly impacted our livelihoods. How can we safeguard ourselves against the threat of super gonorrhea, which is spreading across the country?"
She further explained, "To compound the issue, our clients are exploiting the shortage to request unprotected encounters, taking advantage of the situation."
Sex workers are urging the public to adopt a responsible approach by consistently using condoms to guard against sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
"The consistent use of condoms is crucial for safeguarding against both STIs and unintended pregnancies. We encourage sexually active individuals to make condom usage a norm," emphasized the sex workers.
Given the shortage, many sex workers have turned to utilizing female condoms as an alternative preventive measure.
Coinciding with this issue, today also marks World Condom Day, aiming to raise awareness about protected sexual practices.
